Fluffy chaos: how to transport a dog in a car

It is unbelievable how many people continue to be touched by their dog sitting in the front passenger seat absolutely unfastened, or even tries to climb onto the driver’s lap, or how the dog puts his head out the open window, sticking the tongue out. All this is cool only in pictures from the Internet, but in reality, such things can turn into trouble.

Part of the disregard for the transportation of dogs has been formed by the law – in terms of transportation, traffic rules in some countries considers pets a baggage. The requirement, therefore, remains only one: the load should not limit visibility on the driver’s side and interfere with control. At the same time, it is quite obvious that one thing is a suitcase with things, and another thing is a living being, sometimes comparable in weight and size to a person.

Train your dogs starting when they are puppies

One of the biggest problems with dogs in cars is their behavior. Only one thing can completely guarantee the dog’s peace of mind – his own deep-rooted habit of being in a car. Therefore, having a puppy, take him on any trip that you can. But remember – the first trip should not be fraught with something unpleasant, such as a visit to the veterinarian, etc. Or, if that happened, don’t take the pet to the clinic right away – take a walk, give a treat, scratch them behind their ear in order to break the “car-means-trouble” association.

If you can’t teach your dog to behave in a car from a young age, you can catch up on it later. Bring the dog to the car, let it look around, start the engine. Put your hand on the roof of the car – the dog will perceive it as the fact that the owner is in charge, everything is under control. Getting inside the car should take place only on command – you can use “place”, “go”, “jump” as keywords.

If the dog doesn’t want to get into the car at all, you can put a piece of treat inside or have a friend whom the dog trusts sit in there.

Do not rush to slam the door; the dog needs to look around and get used to the new territory. Getting out of the car should also be only at the command “come” or “let’s go”.

Take some time for this, because a four-legged car enthusiast – both trained as a puppy and a “convert” – must learn these simple rules, and it takes some time. Otherwise, one day he will joyfully jump into the neighboring Gelandewagen, mark the steering wheel there and wait for praise from you.

Fasten your dog’s seatbelt

In no case should the dog move freely around the cabin. If you have a small dog, then the way out of the situation suggests itself – get a box-carrying and transport the animal only in it. Choose a box of the maximum size that can be placed in your car – this is necessary for the box to be fixed – or fasten the carrier with special straps. If the dog is big, then here are the options for how it can be fastened in the cabin. There are plenty of dog accessories for cars to make it easier.

The easiest way is a leather or cloth leash wrapped around the pins of the head restraints of the rear seat, leaving a free section of 30-50 cm, with a snapped carabiner over the collar. The second option is more reliable: purchase a harness and fasten it to a standard seat belt. Harnesses can be ordinary and automobile – in the second case, there may be a latch inserted into the standard seat belt lock. In addition, there are special dog seat belts now on sale, made according to the harness, but much more restricting to the movement of the dog.

If you have a hatchback or station wagon, and the animal travels in the trunk, you can optionally install a partition (such partitions are suitable for any car) that separates the “dog compartment” from the rest of the passenger compartment. If the trunk allows you to place a large metal cage, then it makes sense to go for this option.

Do not let your dog to lean out of the window

A small but extremely important “preview” to this point: in no case do not leave the animal f in the car for a long time. In winter, this is fraught with hypothermia, in summer – heat stroke, and in both cases it can lead to fatal consequences. Tint the rear window, and preferably the entire “rear hemisphere” – this will have a very positive effect on the microclimate of the rear of the cabin in the warm season. And now to the point.

If your car is equipped with air conditioning, do not try to abandon it in the heat because of your fear of getting a cold or anything – a dog handles high temperature in the cabin much harder than you. And the dogs’ desire to cool themselves down by leaning out of the window carefully opened by the owner can turn into a disease for your pet – as a result of such a “natural airflow” you will not protect yourself from the common cold, but your dog will definitely have it. And this is not the worst – leaning out the window threatens the dog with a chance to get otitis or conjunctivitis, as well as the likelihood of being hit with a stone or simply falling out of the car with a sharp maneuver – this happens even with the dogs who are strapped in.

If the windows in the car are still open while driving, then make sure that the draft is not strong around the cabin (do not open all the windows to the fullest extent), place the dog away from the window. Ideally – get a special grid-curtain for car windows – it extends to any height of lowering the glass, and takes up a minimum of space when folded.

The future of mobile operating systems

Software in a smartphone is most important. And I will probably never give up such a position and this will always be my thought. What’s the use of a good camera and high performance if the smartphone’s operating system freezes and cannot offer the user sufficient functionality? Currently, there is already a certain tendency in the market of operating systems, which in 1-2 years can greatly prove itself and become a new stage in the development of the mobile gadget market. You can read more about smartphone evolution here.

It’s worth starting with the fact that after the ban on the use of Google services in Huawei smartphones, the “Chinese giant” said that it was working on its own HarmonyOS operating system. Its feature will be a microkernel and modular architecture. This will allow you to use this operating system on smartphones, light bulbs, tablets, laptops, PCs, cars, refrigerators and other equipment. The modular architecture also allows Huawei to make the system easier on smartphones. The company said earlier that only 20% of the code from 20 million lines is used in the Android kernel. And such an amount of boilerplate, of course, is not cool.

Now we have news about some operating system from Google called Pigweed. This is probably the commercial name for “fuchsia.” According to rumors, the new Google operating system will become a kind of analogue of HarmonyOS. It can also be used in any technology and gadgets.

Microsoft also offers its users tablets on full Windows 10, creating a common ecosystem for devices in a different form factor. In the future, I do not rule out the possibility that Microsoft may introduce a smartphone on a full-fledged Windows with the ability to install familiar desktop applications. This will become possible when the company popularizes foldable phones, so that when it opens, Windows mobile mode automatically switches to desktop mode.

It would be nice if Google offered the same concept of a single system with common applications with its new operating system, because it is obvious that very soon folding phones turning into a tablet device will become the norm for the market. And large manufacturers simply need to offer a system that will offer an interface for any size of screens and hardware of any power.

In my opinion,Apple is behind in this matter today. It offers iPad OS on iPad, iOS on iPhone, and MacOS on MacBook. Such a division into 3 different operating systems in 2020 is an extremely outdated option. It would be much cooler if the company offered a single operating system for all devices with a single interface that would adapt to the screen size in real time.

From about 2021, a war of 3 companies will begin – Google, Apple and Microsoft – for influencing the market not only of mobile devices, but of everything that requires an operating system to work. A single operating system means a single ecosystem and a common user experience, and the winner in this battle will become the new leader in the gadget market. Microsoft looks more interesting in this matter now, since it offers the ability to fully launch any Windows-based applications in desktop mode. You can develop something on your tablet if you are programming, for example. This makes Microsoft automatically the winner in a future war for superiority in the field of universal operating systems. And it is surprising that Microsoft, with the release of Windows 8 in 2012, began to offer tablet mode even on desktops. Even then, the company gave users a single operating system for devices of various form factors, so Microsoft has, we could say, more experience in this matter.

Double-sided tape: types and uses

Sticky tape is widely used in various fields, especially appreciated strong double-sided tape. As the name makes clear, the adhesive layer is applied to both sides of the product. This allows you to connect parts, fasten structures and individual elements to the surface with minimal effort.

The range of material makes double-sided adhesive tape a welcome guest in offices and briefcases of schoolchildren, working suitcases finishing or construction workers and advertising studios, in warehouses. Depending on the characteristics of the tape will help to glue a table or poster to the wall, hang a mirror or towel hook, fix the carpet, pack the cargo or wrap the gift.

Sturdy double sided tape is used primarily in areas related to repair, installation, outdoor advertising and transportation, as well as office supplies in offices.

The use of adhesive tapes of this type is convenient for a number of works:

  • Installation of finishing panels, boxes for electrical wiring, suspended ceilings, elements of advertising structures, furniture, hooks, hangers, holders.
  • Linoleum fixing.
  • Production of outdoor advertising materials (banners, stands, volume inscriptions).
  • Assembly of window constructions.
  • Repair of automobile bodies.
  • Fixation of handles on sliding transparent doors.
  • Packaging works (seamless fastening).
  • The decision of office problems – fastening of a paper and cardboard, fixing of information materials on stands or walls.

Advantages of use

  • Ability to create an airtight connection.
  • Resistant to ultraviolet, solvents and other aggressive chemicals, moisture, changing temperatures.
  • Economical use.
  • Reliability.
  • Availability of different types of material of different specialization.

Types of double-sided adhesive tape

There are universal adhesive tapes and are designed for certain types of work. These materials have a different base.

  • Field: repair and construction.
  • Application: fastening of products of a complex configuration, with holes and an uneven surface.
  • Features: thickness from 0,5 mm, the foamy texture due to the equability provides reliable contact even with rough edges.

Fabric-based scotch

  • Scope: repair, decoration.
  • Application: work with floor and wall coverings, installation of light panels.
  • Features: synthetic or cotton textiles provide lightness, flexibility, good contact with the surface.

Scotch on polypropylene base

  • Scope: advertising, printing, packaging.
  • Application: for work with paper, photos, etc.
  • Features: easily tears, weak adhesion.

Also there is an especially strong construction double-sided adhesive tape, capable of bearing considerable weight. Such material allows fixing mirrors, shelves, other rather large and heavy objects to the walls.

Features of gluing

The following steps are required to securely glue objects together:

  • Clean surfaces from dust, dirt (solvent, alcoholic solution or special products);
  • cut off a piece of scotch of the right length (it is better to prepare pieces in advance if you need several);
  • gently remove the protective film on one side;
  • apply to the surface by selecting a more porous and rough object (or by selecting a larger object from the two to be bonded);
  • try to press in such a way as to ensure maximum contact area;
  • remove the protective film from the second adhesive layer (try not to touch the sticky surface with your hands);
  • attach the second object or structural element.

How to peel off the duct tape

Robust and reliable double-sided adhesive tape has one drawback (due to its advantages) – it can be badly peeled off and leave traces on surfaces.

We present you a few recommendations for removing the scotch without consequences.

  • Wallpaper. A jet of warm air from a hair dryer will help soften the adhesive layer. After a couple of minutes you should stand on the edge of the tape with a knife or other sharp object and carefully separate it from the surface.
  • You can try to remove the tape from the walls, ceiling and floor by gluing a large piece of paint tape and gradually tearing it off (you should leave a free edge) – the tape will pull it out.
  • Fabric. Alcohol solution and sponge will help.
  • Plastic. Apply oil or medical alcohol to the sticky area, and after a while the tape can be easily removed (do not use solvents!).
  • Painted surfaces. Acetone and solvent can be used to remove the adhesive tape and remove sticky residue.
  • Painted surfaces. Vegetable oil can be used. Rubber nozzles will help to work more effectively.
